Hello I’m Laney Bassham, Your Texas Therapist.

Since 2013 I have been providing psychotherapy to individual adults (ages 21+) dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, burnout, compassion fatigue, and trauma as a licensed professional counselor (LPC).

As a Master of Science degree holder in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Texas (UNT), I began my field experience working with clients in residential addiction treatment, including licensed professionals, with trauma-informed therapy and training in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR).

This experience exposed me to a wide range of client experiences and challenges solidifying my passion for helping individuals heal and overcome adversity.

I remain dedicated to continuous learning, actively participating in conferences like those offered by the Traumatic Support Services of North Texas’ Trauma Care Institute and the Trauma Research Foundation.

The therapy process can be challenging with ups and downs!

My Approach aims to encourage, equip and support you on this pathway to healing while keeping your big picture goals and forward momentum in mind. In addition, my personal world view is from a Christian perspective and offer Bible based integration at client request.

The fact remains that only YOU are the expert of YOU!

My role is to facilitate a space where you obtain adaptive coping skills to regulate the mind/body connection, evidence-based processing interventions, and creative collaboration on new approaches to both heal and navigate triggering experiences.

Past clients have grown in self-awareness, self-management and self-leadership which strengthens resilience and social connection going forward. You have the capacity to heal, adapt and overcome! Let’s get started!

Got questions? I’ve got answers.

Yes. At this time Summer Tree Therapy only provides online teletherapy for residents in the state of Texas. Session options include up to 60 minutes on a weekly basis with availability Monday through Thursdays. We also offer extended sessions up to 90 minutes and/or 2 sessions per week, specifically for trauma focused and EMDR sessions. All sessions are confidential and conducted via Google Meet.

At this time Summer Tree Therapy is not an In Network (INN) Provider with any insurance plans. Receipts and superbills are made available to each client through our Electronic Health Records (EHR) system, Sessions Health. Some clients have utilized Thrizer to assist them if they have Out of Network (OON) benefits.

A clinical hour with Laney is billed at $180 and an extended 90 minutes session at $225. Clients inhibited by financial means are offered services such as Thrizer to assist them with Out of Network reimbursement or sliding scale fee options as Summer Tree Therapy has availability to accommodate.

The first session is an Intake Interview to gain understanding of your presenting concerns, treatment goals and an overview of your background as it may relate to your current experience. The first 3-4 sessions are considered ongoing intake as we lay a framework for our work together often focusing on strengthening coping/regulation skills; body awareness as a connector to your driving thoughts, feelings and behaviors; education on relevant research or skills; and identification or recommendations for deeper focus. If you feel comfortable with Laney’s style/approach, the work begins to go deeper at a pace that attends to safety, positive structuring and trauma informed processing. This process continues with an eclectic mix of techniques as are relevant for your personal experience and needs. This may include education and cognitive restructuring through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) and parts work such as Internal Family Systems (IFS). Laney’s goal is to equip, encourage and support your healing and growth with a focus on your strengths and creative approach personalized to you.

Depending on your presenting concerns, level of distress, past therapeutic work and availability to focus on your goals outside of session, therapy can be as few as 8-12 sessions or greater than 6 months to a year. In cases that are more intense and complex, I offer 90 minute &/or 2 sessions per week to gain faster traction.

Yes, Summer Tree Therapy and Laney Bassham take client privacy and confidentiality seriously with use of HIPAA compliant systems and practices. Some limitations to confidentiality exist per state regulations, which are included in the Informed Consent documents and opportunity for discussion in our first session.

We request 48 hour notice of cancellation or reschedule to provide that day/time to another client. If not communicated with 24 hours advance notice of a scheduled session, a $65 cancellation fee will be charged. Three consecutive cancellations will result in closing a client’s episode of care. A client is welcome to open a new episode of care when they have availability to commit to the agreed upon frequency of sessions.

Laney Bassham, MS LPC is certified in trauma therapy by the Trauma Care Institute in Dallas, TX, completed EMDRia approved EMDR Basic Training, and  Traumatic Stress Studies by the Trauma Research Foundation.
